![]() The same exact game played on original hardware looks and runs worse. What about when I play Morrowind on my Series X? It's the original game, but by all definitions it's a Remaster because it now runs at 60 frames per second in 4k resolution, yet all of that is handled by the hardware and Microsoft's BC team. I would even say that playing RE4 VR compared to playing it on a PS2 aren't even remotely similar experiences. It was rebuilt in Unreal Engine while simultaneously running old code to match the original game to a tee, yet the experience is wildly different and features completely new game modes, interfaces, weapon models, and redone environments and enemies. ![]() ![]() It's a remaster/port of the original with new content and gameplay mechanics. RE2 Remake nicely falls into that "Remake" category, but what about Resident Evil Deadly Silence? There are plenty of games that do not fit into those definitions, yet so many folks on reddit are "adamant' about remaster vs remakes.įF7 Remake calls itself a remake but is a sequel. I think you would enjoy playing either version, but IR aim remains the most enjoyable way to play for me, so if the controls are important to you, I would continue with the Trilogy version for now. I am loving this new version so far, and as a huge fan of MP1 it feels like they've managed to not only preserve the atmosphere of the original release, but enhance it. The twinstick control scheme that is enabled by default is also quite comfortable. I need to give it more time, but that may end up being my preferred input scheme. There is also a 'hybrid' control option, that allows you to play the new twinstick control scheme, but activate pointer aim by holding either of the right shoulder buttons. The Wii controls are still my favourite (IR is slightly more intuitive than gyro), but you can get close to it with this release. There are control options in this new release that allow you to use gyro aiming as an close recreation of the IR pointing in the Wii release.
